6 modern villas set inside thatched chalets, a nor to Rwandan culture
Take your pick from one of just six stunning villas filled with every luxury imaginable – from plush bathrobes, freestanding turban, designer furniture to help you recover after a long day of Mountain Gorilla trekking and floor to ceiling windows that are a window to the spectacular world outside. Each also includes a stone fireplace-warmed lounge, well-stocked wine cellar, sunken fire pit and wilderness bursting with potential for excitement.
Some of Bisate Lodge’s many activities include hiking into bamboo forests to observe Golden Monkeys, Lakes Ruhondo and Burera, the Musanze Caves, the scenic summit of Mount Bisoke and an excursion to Dian Fossey’s grave and research centre, which sits in between two volcanic peaks.
But no trip to Bisate would be complete without gorilla trekking, where you can search for the ten families of mountain gorilla that have made the mountains their home. From our experience, it usually takes between two to five hours to find a family, before you can savour every second watching them foraging, eating, playing or quite simply, bearing an uncanny resemblance to you and your brood!
